Sexual Abuse

No one likes to talk about sexual abuse because it's so painful.  But getting help and talking about it is necessary in order to heal and prevent the cycle from continuing.

If you or a loved one has been sexually abused or been the abuser, here is a site that is full of information for getting help.

Science and Consciousness Conference

Although this doesn't have much to do with sex and sexuality, I want to invite you anyway.  This is a fascinating conference where you will learn and stretch your ideas about the nature of life.  If your curious, I encourage you to take a look at this site.
John Cogswell and Alexandra Katehakis will be a featured presenters at The 2006 International Conference on Science and Consciousness, April 21-26, in Santa Fe, New Mexico,  USA.

SASH Conference

The 2005 SASH Conference was held in San Francisco, California this year.  Around 400 therapists gathered to share ideas and to listen to a vareity of speakers talk about how to create a culture of healthy sexuality.  There were many highlights to this conference including a panel discussion addressing the question of "What is Healthy Sexuality?"

There was lively discussion around that question and a movement by members of both SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health) and AASECT (American Association of Sex Educators and Therapists) to come together in a dialogue to look for similarities and ways to build bridges.

I believe that this kind of coming together can only bode well for the profession of psychotherapy and for the future of sex education in this country.
